Evolution or Devolution?

Winston Smith's series "A Strong Delusion" leads me to wonder

I’m loving this unfolding series from Winston Smith:

He makes a seemingly-irrefutable case that cumulative mutations are bad for our fitness. I think he’s right.

I’m reminded of the “Mouse Utopia” experiments, wherein compounding mutations led to the complete collapse of the mouse colony:

the males were unable to defend their territory, due to decreasing testosterone, and females and males swapped gender roles, with the former behaving more aggressively than the latter…

females were unable to reproduce, as the males had withdrawn from the mating scene... despite pestered by aggressive female mice, chose to stop reproducing entirely...

... later, these behaviors were linked to actual genetic mutations "

Eerie correspondence with what we see today:

With 80% of our genome coding for the brain, the brain gets hit by 80% of the mutations, no? It’s no wonder insanity, immorality and stupidity are at record levels and climbing.

If you care (and dare) to look inside their thinking:

A friend reported that when she last went to our local library, the county employee checking her out was wearing a “They/Them” pronoun badge…

One theory of the Mouse Utopia researchers is that besides the genetic mutation basis, insanity is also “contagious”, because we are social animals and rely on cues from others to guide our behavior and thinking. If this is true, those of us who wish to remain sane and healthy may need to disassociate from growing number of insane.

Speaking of which, I heard a podcast yesterday named “The Sane Asylum”:

I dare not link you there, as the sane are an increasingly persecuted minority as the pathocrats holding the levers of power do what pathocrats do.
